Governor Sandoval: Nevada Health Exchange Choices Limited

Posted: Updated:
Gov. Brian Sandoval says there are no good choices for Nevada as it tries to decide what do to about its troubled health insurance exchange.

The Republican governor says he's frustrated by the position Nevada has been put in because of a botched online system developed by Xerox.

But fixing it in time for the next open enrollment period that begins in November brings additional challenges, most notably a tight timeframe.

Sandoval adds that joining the federal exchange is not an immediate alternative because of a Nevada law that mandates the state operate its own online web portal. Changing that law would require approval by the Legislature, which doesn't convene until February.

Sandoval made his comments during a television interview taped last week that aired Monday on a local news station.
