Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers confirm a toddler who was injured in a crash on Highway 395 earlier this week has passed away.

Five others were left with non-life threatening injuries when a cement truck slammed into two vehicles including an SUV containing the toddler, triggering a chain reaction crash around 8 am Tuesday near the Golden Valley exit.

Samarra Redding was 3-years-old. Her family has set up a fundraising webpage to help pay for medical bills or funeral costs.

Troopers say a preliminary investigation reveals a 2001 white Mack cement truck was heading south in the fast lane when for unknown reasons it struck the rear of a dark colored Chevy passenger vehicle and pushed it forward into the guardrail where it continued southbound. The Chevy then sideswiped a white Nissan Versa sedan and then stopped after colliding with a black Hummer. After the Mack truck hit the Chevy, it then struck a dark gold-colored Ford SUV which forced it forward to collide with a white Nissan Murano before all vehicles came to a stop.

Immediately after that initial accident, troopers say a second accident occurred when a red motorcycle was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of the cement truck. The motorcycle rider was not hurt.
