From Washoe County:

This Friday, May 2, 2014, at 10 a.m. the 27th Annual James D. Hoff Memorial Ceremony will be conducted in Idlewild Park in Reno. The Memorial, the first in Nevada, was established to honor those Nevada peace officers who gave their lives in the line of duty protecting citizens. In addition, those officers who survived life threatening situations will also be recognized and honored.

Governor Brian Sandoval will be the keynote speaker. The program will also feature bagpiper Robert Bledshaw from Carson City; songs by local weather forecaster Mike Alger and North Las Vegas Officer William Flynn; and the reading of a poem by radio broadcaster Ross Mitchell.

A lunch hosted by the Grand Sierra Resort and served by Victim Advocates will be offered immediately after the ceremony in the California Building.
