Rosewood Lakes Golf Course to Open for Season

Posted: Updated:
From the City of Reno:

Rosewood Lakes Golf Course will open to the public on Saturday, April 26. The driving range, golf shop and 18-hole, par-72 championship course will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Reno City Council recently approved short-term and long-term contract agreements with The First Tee of Northern Nevada regarding the management, operations and development of Rosewood Lakes Golf Course.

The partnership relieves the City of Reno of some of the financial burden of operating the course and provides an affordable golf experience geared toward youth and seniors. This deal is projected to save the City of Reno $320,000 in the General Fund for Fiscal Year 15.

The First Tee of Northern Nevada is a nonprofit youth development organization that advances children by teaching life skills such as self-management, interpersonal communication, goal setting, mentoring and resiliency. The number of youth engaged in the local chapter was 7,500 in 2013.

“This is an example of a creative, successful public-private partnership that will help meet the priorities of the City Council to Provide Efficient and Responsive City Services and Promote a Sustainable and Vibrant Economy,” says Julee Conway, Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services for the City of Reno.

Duncan Golf Management, which oversees other area golf courses, has been contracted by The First Tee to handle the management of Rosewood Lakes Golf Course.
