Rancher Cliven Bundy Speaks at News Conference

Posted: Updated:

Southern Nevada Rancher Cliven Bundy spoke at a news conference in Bunkerville Friday. Bundy has come under fire in recent days for making comments considered racially charged.

During his press conference, Bundy touched upon subjects like Christianity and his issues with the BLM over grazing fees and race.

This week Bundy was quoted in a New York Times story making disparaging remarks about blacks and asking whether they were better off as slaves. On Friday, he told the crowd that he's sorry if he offended anyone with those remarks. He said he believes everyone should have equal rights. "I can't see color. Everybody looks the same to me."
The article published Wednesday says Bundy's comments came during a long speech at a sparsely attended news conference last Saturday.
Politicians including Nevada Sens. Dean Heller Harry Reid and Rep. Steven Horsford issued statements condemning the remarks.
Bundy has become a conservative folk hero for resisting attempts by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to round up hundreds of his cattle the agency says are trespassing on public land. (AP)
