From a gathering of ukulele fanatics to a celebration of Mother Earth, this is a pretty busy weekend on tap. You can see the merchants of MidTown come together to bring out shoppers, help raise money for children with cancer, shred your documents and learn all about recycling. Enjoy!

Friday 4/25

Ukulele Festival Nugget

One of the biggest gathering ukuleles for players and fans. Instruments will be for sale, there will be demonstrations, workshops and two evening concerts

Spring Wings Festival Fallon 

Every year Fallon puts on this celebration of their winged residents. Check their website for schedules of their tours and their workshops that run all weekend long.

Sundown in Midtown  5-9 pm

Midtown merchants are banding together to offer deals and events to bring people downtown.

ICDA High School 5:30-8 pm singing and dancing competition

The students at I Can Do Anything High School will be showing off their singing and dancing skills…and everyone’s invited to attend.

Volleyball at Reno-Sparks Convention Center

The regional volleyball conference means non-stop action and 2,000 players in town.

South Reno Food Truck Fest Desert Way

A collection of food trucks offering an array of dinner options, all on Desert Way in South Reno.

Saturday 4/26

Free Shredding Day 9 – 1  Atlantis Casino

You are invited to get rid of paperwork for free but please no cardboard.

Quartet Competition Grand Sierra Resort 12 noon

Quartets will be competing for honors and you are invited to listen in.

Run or Dye UNR  6:30 am – 2 pm

It’s billed as the most colorful race of the year. You raise money to help local kids fight cancer and you are blasted with colorful dye all along the way. It’s all at UNR.

David Wise Parade of Champions at 5pm from downtown Reno to Aces Ballpark

Local Man wins gold medal and now the community turns out to honor him.

Build Your Own Gardening Hoop, Galena Creek Visitor Center 1 pm

Reno Chamber Orchestra  7:30 (Sunday at 2pm)  Nightingale Concert Hall

Zumba-thon Damonte Ranch High School, noon, for Northern Nevada Children’s cancer foundation

Leadership students will be holding it to help raise money for kids with cancer.

VC Grand Prix Virginia City

Motorcycles galore!

Veteran’s Guest House book sale 9am-2pm

Books for sale and all the profits to helping veterans.

Rasto Reno Outdoor Festival West Street Market

The West Street Market area is transformed into a farmers market and local merchant fair.

Honor Flight arrival Reno-Tahoe Airport, 3 pm

The latest group of World War II veterans is spending the weekend in Washington, D.C. and they will arrive back home Sunday at 3. Everyone is invited to the homecoming they never got.

The Eddy House Pies with a Purpose  4-7 pm

It’s a pie contest involving the best pot pies from restaurants in town and the profits all go to the Eddy House charity.

Computer Corps recycling

Bring your old computers and parts to the Earthday celebration in Idlewild park.  

Earth Day Idlewild Park 10am-5pm

Music, recycling, food and fun what better way is there to celebrate Mother Earth? The City of Reno will be doing it up in style this Sunday from 10-5.
