Sparks Police Confirm 1 Person Dead After Explosion at Sierra Chemical

Sparks Police say one person has died in an industrial accident at Sierra Chemical. Police say a tank containing compressed air exploded and killed the unidentified employee.

Police say the explosion happened just before 8:15am at 2302 Larkin Circle.

Authorities tell us they are testing the 550-gallon container.

Police say there were no chemicals or fire involved in the explosion.

Police also say there is no danger to the public resulting from this accident and there is no foul play suspected.

The company has stopped operations for the day. About 30 employees work at Sierra Chemical. No one else was hurt.

Sparks Police and OSHA are currently investigating this as an industrial accident.

The name of the victim hasn't been released.
