Biggest Sculpture 'Embrace' Being Built in Sparks

A massive art structure that will eventually head to Burning Man is being put together right now in Sparks. It's called Embrace and it's a huge sculpture of two people hugging.

The project is being built at The Generator. The face of the sculpture is about the size of the Statue of Liberty's. It's going to be the biggest project ever built in Sparks. Volunteers showed up Thursday night again to help build some more.

Executive Director Matt Schultz says artists have been working on the project since last November. "Embrace is a structure that is meant to try to get people to think about the moment of now and their relationships right now," said Schultz.

Outside The Generator warehouse is the second head of the embrace sculpture. When the project is complete it will be 7-stories high with a cathedral-like interior and two very large chandeliers shaped like hearts. Most of the building is being done here in Reno, but some pieces of the project will come from all over the world. "We have crew in at least 10 separate countries. We have crew members in South Korea, we have crew members in New Zealand, Australia and South Africa," said Schultz.

The artists at The Generator say they're not planning to have the sculpture burned at burning man. They want to bring it back to Reno and hopefully make an art park to showcase large scale art pieces.

It costs a lot of money to put this the sculpture together, around $250,000. So far the group has raised $130, 000, but they still need help. If you'd like to donate click the links below for more information:

Jack Cooley led the Bighorns recording his fifteenth double-double of the season with  28 points and 15 rebounds while Jakarr Sampson had 28 points and six rebounds.
