Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Several California, Nevada Counties

From the National Weather Service:

The National Weather Service says a winter weather advisory remains in effect until 11pm Friday for several Nevada and California counties.

* Timing: snow showers through this evening, heaviest late this afternoon and evening.

* Snow accumulations: up to 5 inches below 7,000 feet with 5 to 10 inches above 7,000 feet. Higher amounts near the crest.

* Impacts: Roads are expected to become slick and snow covered by early evening as a second round of heavier snow develops and road surfaces cool.

Precautionary/preparedness actions:

Snow will be an inconvenience to travelers. Roads will become slick and hazardous with snow and ice first developing on bridges and overpasses. Motorists should slow down and use caution and carry tire chains.

Counties affected include: Alpine, El Dorado, Lassen, Mono, Nevada and Plumas Counties in California - and Douglas, Elko and Washoe Counties in Nevada.
