Nevada Retailers Expect $235 Million Easter Sales

Posted: Updated:

The Retail Association of Nevada says it expects the Easter holiday will equate to higher spending in stores.

The association on Friday predicted Easter-related sales this year will reach $235 million. That would be an increase of 4.5% and mark the highest level in six years.

It's not just chocolate bunnies, marshmallow Peeps and jelly beans that will push sales.

Spending on Easter meals is estimated at $43.18 per person. The association estimates spending on clothing at $22.71 per person.

But while candy may not be the largest revenue source for retailers, it's still a holiday must.

The association says nearly 90% of shoppers plan to make some sort of Easter-related candy purchase.  (AP)
