The University of Nevada (19-16, 11-8 MW) baseball team lost the first game of a three-game Mountain West series 20-10 to Fresno State (19-19, 8-11 MW) at Peccole Park tonight. The Wolf Pack is 19-16 overall and 11-8 in MW play while the Bulldogs improved to 19-19 and 8-11 in the conference.
Nevada scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 3-1 lead but FS scored 19 unanswered runs to take command of the game. The Bulldogs used the big inning scoring eight in the fourth, six in the sixth and five in the seventh inning.
Nevada scored four in the bottom of the eighth inning and three in the ninth to make the final score 20-10.
Pack starter Barry Timko (4-2) suffered the loss allowing five runs on six hits in 3.1 innings on the mound. Dillon Houser (3-0) won his third game of the season pitching 1.2 scoreless innings of relief.
Six Pack batters collected multiple hits in the game led by center fielder Trenton Brooks (3-for-3,3R,2RBI) who had a career-high three hits and drove in two. It was Brooks fourth consecutive multi hit game. Kewby Meyer (2-for-2,RBI), Austin Byler (2-for-3), Bryce Barger (2-for-2,2R), Ryan Teel (2-for-3,2R,2RBI) and Bryce Greager (2-for-2,RBI) had two hits each. Brooks drove in two and Teel scored two with his first home run of the season.
Manny Argomaniz (3-for-4,3R,3RBI) led FS with three hits and drove in three. Brody Russell (2-for-6,2R,4RBI) drove in a game-high four.
Game two is set for 6 p.m. on Friday evening.
