Airport Pavement Reconstruction Continues; Noise Expected

Posted: Updated:

From the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority:

As part of a regular maintenance program, the Reno-Tahoe International Airport continues its summer-long project to reconstruct pavement areas. This will result in the sights and sounds of construction at the airport during the day and night time hours.

From April 18 to April 30, 2014, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., there will be noise and vibration from heavy equipment used to demolish pavement.

While we do not anticipate any impact on neighbors, passengers or flights, it is important to note that the public may hear noise coming from the airport during the day as a result of the concrete project. In addition, the public may notice increased vehicle traffic on the airfield from construction trailers and trucks.

The primary location of this work will take place on the north/south runway on the east side of the airfield. Construction will require this runway to be closed from April 14 to August 15, 2014. The main north/south runway will remain open, along with the crosswind east/west runway, for the majority of the project. No significant impact on operations is expected from the temporary runway closure.
