Aces Fall to El Paso 2-1

Aces Release

Archie Bradley did just about all he could to get the Aces a win in their first road game of the season. The highly-touted prospect went seven innings and limited the El Paso Chihuahuas to just two runs on three hits in Reno's 2-1 loss Friday night in Tucson, Ariz.

Reno was quick to strike first but the offense went silent the rest of the night. Mike Jacobs doubled to start the second inning and two batters later was plated on Roger Kieschnick's RBI single. The double extended Jacobs' hitting streak to a team-best eight games.

Bradley was rolling early as he set down the first nine in order. In the fourth, Cameron Maybin reached on a bloop double with one out. He quickly scored as Kyle Blanks followed with a soft double down the left-field line.

El Paso left-hander Jason Lane settled in and made quick work of the Aces in the middle innings. Reno managed only two hits after the second inning.

Lane helped himself in the sixth when he led off with a double. Tony Sipp replaced Lane as a pinch-runner and moved to third on Reymond Fuentes' sacrifice bunt. Maybin followed with a sacrifice fly to score Sipp in what would prove to be the winning run.

Lane pitched six shutout innings in Reno on April 5 and improved to 2-0 on the season. Bradley was the tough luck loser after seven crisp innings.

The two teams play game two of the series Saturday in Tucson. The Aces send right-hander Bo Schultz (0-1, 3.60) to the mound against El Paso right-hander Burch Smith (0-1, 12.00). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PST.
