From the City of Reno:
During the month of March, the Officers and Staff of the Reno Police Department donated over 480 children's books as part of the Washoe County School Districts community book drive and "round up" program which was coordinated by RPD Officer Guilford. The books were picked up from the Reno Police Department today and will be distributed to local area schools. The students who receive the books read below their grade level and the RPD donated books will be used by volunteer tutors to work with the students on improving their reading and literacy skills. Schools with limited book purchasing resources are given the highest priority.
The book donations made by the Reno Police Department to the Washoe County School District is a continuing effort by the Department to assist the area's children in succeeding in their education as well as working with other local area government agencies.
