Skier Identified in Deadly Crash at Northstar

Posted: Updated:

The Placer County Sheriff's office has identified the man who died after a crash on Sunday morning at Northstar California ski resort.

According to Northstar, just before 11 a.m. the resort's ski patrol responded to a report of an unresponsive person at the "Rail Splitter" advanced ski trail. When they arrived, they found 67-year-old Marc L. Coleman of Van Nuys, California, who was unresponsive. Ski patrol members, Northstar Fire Department, and Care Flight all attempted life saving maneuvers.

The Placer County Sheriff's Office says they have to wait for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, but they say it appears Coleman may have crashed.

Coleman was flown by Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, where he later died.

Northstar says he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The ski resort says they would like to extend their deepest sympathy and support to the family and friends of the victim.
