Nevada Highway Patrol has identified two people killed in a wrong-way crash on I-580 early Saturday morning. A third person remains in critical condition.

Troopers say 23-year-old Kenneth C. Lee of Reno was heading south in a red 1995 Honda Civic in the northbound lanes of I-580 near the Plumb Lane exit when he struck the front of a red 2014 Nissan Versa driven by 71-year-old Hans-Hartmut Kaesgen of Berea, Ohio.

Both drivers died at the scene. The passenger in the Nissan, 70-year-old Nancy C. Kaesgen, was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center where she remains in critical condition at the time of this writing.

Troopers say it's believed that Lee drove onto the northbound 580 from the Plumb Lane northbound off-ramp.

Troopers suspect alcohol played a role in the accident.

Trooper Doug Hildebrand of the Nevada Highway Patrol's Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating this unfortunate accident. Witnesses with any information regarding this case can reach him at the Reno NHP office at (775) 689-4623, the Department of Public Safety Communications Center (775) 687-0400 or dhildebrand@dps.state.nv.us, please reference case number NHP-140400357.
