Halleck Bar Party, Northeastern Nevada Museum, Elko

The Halleck Bar Party on April 11 will be held at the Northeastern Nevada Museum in Elko. This year's event will feature an appearance by Mark Twain and local schoolchildren singing "Home Means Nevada". The event is held each year to celebrate the gift of a historic, antique bar and back-bar which was given to the museum in 1970. 21st annual Beer Fest, Downtown Reno Ballrooms

The Nevada Young Alumni is holding its 21st annual Beer Fest event at Downtown Reno Ballrooms. All proceeds will be used for creating scholarships for students. This is a 21 and older event. High Desert Radio Control Club Fun Fly & Swap Meet, Fernley, 8am

The High Desert Radio Control Club will hold a free fun fly and swap meet starting at 8am at Tiger Field in Fernley. There will be a BBQ, raffle, static displays, free dry camping and a spot landing contest and open flying on both Saturday and Sunday.

31st Annual Snow Golf Tournament, Alpine Meadows, 9am 

This year's participants start at the top of Alpine Meadows' Summit Six chairlift and weave their way down a nine-hole golf course to the bottom of the Alpine Bowl Chair. Players are provided scorecards, pencils, clubs and tennis balls - in lieu of golf ball. All competitors are encouraged to dress up in their best 'golf' attire, and must be wearing skis or a snowboard to navigate from hole-to-hole. Afterwards, all the scorecards will be entered into a raffle. Participants can register for the event starting at 9am.

May Arboretum Clean-Up, Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, 10am

Several community groups will come together to host a free community spring cleanup at the Wilbur D. May Arboretum. Refreshments, coffee and muffins will be served. Point of Impact car seat inspection, The Children's Cabinet, 10am

You can make sure your child's car seat is properly installed at an event Saturday at The Children's Cabinet located at 1090 South Rock Blvd. in Reno. REMSA is partnering with the group for the 10am inspection checkpoint. Safety technicians will make sure the seat is properly installed and the right kind for the age and weight of your child. V&T Wine, Cheese and Dessert Train, Carson City, 10am

The 5th annual V&T Wine, Cheese and Dessert Train will depart Carson City Eastgate Depot at 10am for a trip through the Comstock to Virginia City. The train will return to Carson City at 4pm. Virginia Mansfield Day, cat adoptions, Nevada Humane Society, 11am

You'll receive a free bag of litter along with a free bag of food when you adopt a cat today! Honoring Carl and Virginia Mansfield's love for cats, this event was created to increase awareness and cat adoptions across Northern Nevada. Adopters will also receive a free professional photo of their new car from 11am-2pm. Cats will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. The SPCA of Northern Nevada is holding 'Spring Flowers Sprout Kitten Showers' from noon to 3pm at 4950 Spectrum Blvd or at the Thrift Store at 401 Vine Street in Reno. The SPCA is looking for items to be donated to help incoming kittens at the shelter. Requests include: kitten milk replacement, nursing bottles, canned and dry kitten food, snuggles safes (heating discs), small plastic litter boxes and financial donations. Peter Epstein, Church Fine Arts, UNR, 3:30pm

Peter Epstein, a Nevada Arts Council performing arts fellow and saxophonist, performs works from his new CD, "Polarities," from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12 at the Church Fine Arts building at UNR.  The Peter Epstein Quartet includes Chris Williams on trumpet, Sam Minaie on bass and Mark Ferber playing drums. Williams is a recent graduate of UNR's jazz program and will be subbing for Ralph Alessi who plays the trumpet on "Polarities." The album will be released on Songlines Recordings May 13 and available for purchase at the performance.

Cops vs. Kids: Basketball Game Fundraiser, Lee Vining High School, Mono County, 5pm

The Mono County Sheriff's Office and the California Highway Patrol will take on the Lee Vining High School boys' basketball team to help raise money for the school's booster club. The school is located at 51710 Highway 395.

Battle Born Warrior Amazing Race, Stateline

The Battle Born WAR (Warrior Amazing Race) is a fun, team-building challenge for employees or families that will take place on April 13 in Stateline. Teams will compete to accomplish various tasks in the South Lake Tahoe area, requiring a combination of physical, mental, and cooperative skills. Participating teams will receive riddles and clues to solve to determine what their next challenge will be.  The clues will be based on Nevada history and geography of southeast Tahoe.  Proceeds from the event will support the George Whittell High School Boosters Club.
