The University of Nevada baseball team dropped 5-1 exhibition contest to the Reno Aces, the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks at Aces Ballpark tonight. Tonight's game was the fifth consecutive year the two clubs met at the downtown ballpark and the Aces hold a 4-1 series advantage.
It was Nevada's second game of the day after the Pack defeated Grand Canyon earlier 3-2 at Peccole Park.
The game is a fundraiser for Nevada's Dugout Club that is the baseball specific excellence fund at the University of Nevada. The Aces donated a total of $60,000 the previous four games.
Nevada scored the first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning when third baseman Jake Caron singled and moved to second base when first baseman Bryce Barger was hit by pitch. Right fielder Jordan Dunatov's RBI single scored Caron with the first run of the game.
The Aces scored the next five runs to win 5-1.
Shortstop Jeff Nellis had three hits on the night as the Pack totaled nine in the game. Dunatov collected two hits and drove in Nevada's lone run.
Nevada plays a three-game Mountain West series at San Jose State this weekend. Friday's game is at 6 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday's games starting at 1 p.m. The Pack won two of the three games played in Reno earlier this season.
