Surrounding Businesses Look Forward to Aceball!

Posted: Updated:

Many businesses around Aces Ballpark are anticipating the start of the team's season later this week.

The atmosphere during the baseball season is a total 180 from the off-season.

"It's indicative of what this area needs, is that kind of activity when the ball games are in town. It makes all the difference in the world for us," says Trent Schmidt, Slice of the Peak co-owner.

"That's what happens with the Aces, they make it friendly. People want to come down. It's a great atmosphere. They bring their kids, the patio's open. It's just a great time. It should be like that here all-year-long, but it's not," says Jack Lyons, Men Wielding Fire co-owner.

Slice of the Peak and men wielding fire are some of the businesses preparing for a busy season.

A lot of fans come in before a game to grab a bite to eat or to enjoy a pint.

But during the winter, it's a different story. It's tough for the Men Wielding Fire restaurant. Fortunately though, they get by through their catering and take out service.

But down a block, Slice of the Peak closes during the winter because of the lack of business.

The owner says the off-season affects the surrounding area.

"We love baseball and we're hoping SK Baseball continues in their efforts to bring other activities into the facilities here. At only 70 days a year is being utilized. It makes it hard to survive down here on just those 70 days."

Those businesses are offering a ton of food and drink specials during the season.
