Posted: Updated:

The renowned director and founder of Block 10 Productions, Luca Merli has announced that his next film project, entitled Peninsula, will document Italian surfers as they perform thrilling feats on the water in their competition to achieve unsurpassed glory. Peninsula is a tour-de-force of filmmaking which captures the elegance of this thrilling sport as well as the personal stories of its surfing enthusiasts. Luca Merli has produced a monumental visual work which combines exciting footage of the most death defying moments in surfing with the unbridled passion of its participants. This visual feast is more than a mere documentary—it is a tribute to the vibrant Italian surfing community.

Luca has devoted more than a year of his time to producing Peninsula. Having traveled across almost 14,000 kilometers of road, Luca produced almost 8,500 meters of film. He worked intimately with almost 25 surfers and a tireless crew to generate almost 300 hours of video which he has just completed editing. Peninsula is scheduled for release during the summer of 2014.

Luca Merli and Block 10 Productions is also pleased to announce that investors, surfing lovers and film enthusiasts can now be a part of this one of a kind production. Peninsula, which is currently in post-production, is taking financial contributions from the public. With this financial support, Peninsula can be distributed across the world and convey the immense beauty of Italy’s marvelous beaches and countryside, as well as the passion that fills the Italian surfing community.

With only a small investment, financial supporters can become a part of a historical moment in filmmaking. Contributors will not only have the gratification of participating in a spectacularly beautiful and compelling Luca Merli film, but can also have access to the film production. The film’s producers have pledged various mementos from the production process including Peninsula shirts, signature prints, posters and DVD’s. Those who contribute €200 or more will have their names memorialized in the film itself. Contributions can be made at http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/peninsula
