Winter Weather Advisory Issued for California, Nevada Counties

From the National Weather Service:

A winter weather advisory for snow remains in effect from 2 pm Monday to 5 am Tuesday for several California and Nevada counties.

Timing: snow will begin this afternoon with heaviest snow this evening into tonight.

Snow accumulations: 3 to 6 inches...with 5 to 10 inches above 7,000 feet and up to a foot along the crest.

Impacts: snow will produce reduced visibility along with slick roads. Expect chain controls at times tonight into early Tuesday morning.

Affected areas include Alpine, El Dorado, Lassen, Mono, Nevada and Plumas Counties in California and Douglas, Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Washoe and White Pine Counties in Nevada.

Precautionary/preparedness actions:

Snow is expected to pose an inconvenience to travelers. Roads will become slick and hazardous with snow and ice first developing on bridges and overpasses. Motorists should slow down and use caution.
