Nevada Health Exchange Sees Brisk Business for Insurance

Posted: Updated:

Nevadans were flocking to the state's online health insurance exchange to at least begin the enrollment process before Monday's deadline.
Thousands turned out at health fairs in both southern and northern Nevada over the weekend, where enrollment assistants were on hand to help people find insurance on the website, Nevada Health Link.
Monday was the deadline under the federal affordable care act to sign up for mandated insurance coverage. But because of problems that have stymied Nevada's system for the past six months, anyone who begins an application will have another 60 days to complete the process.
Officials say that as of Saturday more than 40,000 people have selected plans and 24,000 have paid. Those numbers were expected to jump. (AP)
