14th Annual Winter Fest, Olympic Valley, 9:30am-3pm

The San Francisco 49ers Foundation is holdings its 14th annual Winter Fest at the Resort at Squaw Creek in Olympic Valley. Winter Olympians along with various 49ers players, coaches, alumni and members of the 49ers Foundation will all take part! The resort is located at 400 Squaw Creek Road. Proceeds benefit the foundation which supports development programs for underserved youth.

Oscar Mayer Weinermobile, Smiths, Reno, 12pm-5pm

The Oscar Mayer Weinermobile will visit Smiths at 175 Lemon Drive in Reno from 12pm-5pm. Get your picture taken! Other fun activities are scheduled for familes!

Lady Luck Tattoo Arts Expo, Circus Circus, 2pm-10pm

The 12th annual Lady Luck Tattoo Expo will take place inside the Circus Circus Mandalay Convention Center Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There is a pre-registration special for a 3-day VIP pass for $35, otherwise daily admission is $15 and children 14 and under are free. The expo will offer safety and art seminars, contests, and of course tattoo artists ready to ink your body!

Unbuckle Apres Party, Heavenly Mountain Resort, 3:30pm

Heavenly is holding nine fun-filled sun days called Spring Loaded. On March 28-29, join the world-famous Heavenly Angels for Tahoe's ultimate indoor and outdoor apres party at Tamarack Lodge for Unbuckle. The high-altitude party features half-price drinks and specials, food specials, swag giveaways and a live DJ.

Poetry Center Grand Opening, Incline Village, 5:30pm

Sierra Nevada College is celebrating the opening of its new Poetry Center with a series of events on Friday and Saturday. Events include readings and a workshop and a slam event. Events take place at various campus venues at 999 Tahoe Blvd. Call 881-7511 for more information.

University of Nevada Scholarship Gala, Peppermill 6pm cocktails, 7pm dinner  

The 5th annual Blue Tie Ball will be held at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino. The gala, which also includes an auction, will benefit Wolf Pack student-athletes. Tickets are $200.

The Discovery After Dark, 6pm-9pm  

The Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum will host 'The Discovery After Dark.' The event will feature hands-on experiments, a live DJ, free throw contest, ping-pong challenge raffle, 20-yard dash and vertical leap test among other activities. It's $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers. A $5 discount is available with the purchase of 5 of more tickets. Parents are welcome but not required to attend.

Monty Python's Spamalot, TMCC, 7:30pm

TMCC Theater will present the first northern Nevada production of Monty Python's Spamalot at the Nell J. Redfield Performing Arts Center at 7:30pm on Friday and Saturday. Ninth Street Neighborhood Cleanup/Dump Day, 9am

The City of Reno has collaborated with community partners to provide a free neighborhood cleanup/dump day for residents of the Ninth Street area. From 9am-noon, large dumpsters will be available at the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows parking lot for the disposal of items such as exterior trash, weeds, dead vegetation, furniture, appliances, tires and other types of discarded household items. Animalia Pet Fashion Show, Idlewild Park, 10am

Reno Earth Day will hold its 2nd annual Animalia Pet Fashion Show at Idlewild Park. The Animalia Kingdom is an area of the Reno Earth Day Festival where all animals are welcome. You can learn about pet resources, and participate in unique activities at the free event. Reno Earth Day is scheduled for April 27th this year.

Annual Rose Pruning Demonstration, Idlewild Park, 11am

The Reno Rose Society will hold its Annual Rose Pruning Demonstration at the Reno Municipal Rose Garden in Idlewild Park at 11am. The event will focus pruning techniques on different rose classifications. Bring bypass pruners, alcohol or Lysol Spray & heavy gloves; also suggested are lunch and bottled water. Cops vs. Kids: Basketball Game Fundraiser, Coleville High School, Mono County, 5pm

The Mono County Sheriff's Office and the California Highway Patrol will take on the Coleville High School boys' basketball team to help raise money for the school's booster club. The school is located at 111591 Highway 395.

 

FISH: Have a Heart Celebration, Glen Eagles Restaurant, Carson City, 5pm 

Nearly 40 local celebrities from business, churches and media will compete for tips at the FISH: Have a Heart Celebration at Glen Eagles Restaurant.
