Posted: Updated:

California Highway Patrol reports that one woman has been hospitalized after crashing her motorcycle north of Bridgeport just before noon on Sunday, March 16th.

According to CHP troopers, Mono County Sheriff Ralph Obenberger found a motorcycle crash victim on State Route 182, just 8 miles north of Bridgeport. Obenberger contacted the Sheriff's Dispatch Center, which called the Bridgeport Fire Department, Mono County Paramedics and several California Highway Patrol members.

An emergency medical technician provided the motorcyclist with oxygen and emergency care, until a Care Flight helicopter from Reno arrived just after 1 p.m.

State Route 182 was closed for 15 minutes as workers loaded the victim into the helicopter.

Investigators say the rider had been traveling southbound on SR-182 when she drove off of the curved road into the right shoulder. Her motorcycle then hit a reflective roadway marker and she was thrown from the vehicle. The victim was searing safety gear at the time of the crash. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.
