Local Olympians Welcomed Home

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a gold-medal-winning Olympian?

Many got hear first-hand what it was like as they spent Saturday with Reno's David Wise.

He was thrown onto the international spotlight not even a month ago after winning gold in Sochi.

Even though he continues traveling the world to ski, the Biggest Little City will always mean home for Wise.

"It's cool for me to represent the community, represent Reno Tahoe," said Wise. "This is a great place to live. (I was) born and raised here, I love this place."

He spent the morning eating breakfast with skiers and snow boarders at the resort.

Then he went down the mountain, where he met with a few dozen kids from the Boys and Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows.

Wise says he's glad he got to be with the kids, because it's a way he can give back and show support of the area's youth.

It wasn't just a welcoming for Wise, but close-knit community of South Lake Tahoe celebrated three more local Olympians: Jamie Anderson Maddie Bowman, and Hannah Teter.

Anderson and Bowman both won gold in Sochi for snowboard slope style, and freestyle skiing half pipe respectively.
