Authorities Confirm Body Found in Spanish Springs is Colleen Muhl

Posted: Updated:

Washoe County deputies found her body at her Ocean View Drive home in the backyard. Families and friends say they last heard from her on February 17th.

Authorities say her husband, Gerald told them she had died in California, which later turned out to be false.

51-year-old Gerald Muhl, committed suicide on March 3, one day after detectives began questioning him about his wife's disappearance.

Lt. Green says they received a tip that Gerald moved rocks in his backyard after his wife disappeared.

Gerald has been named the main suspect in Colleen's murder - and detectives are continuing to investigate to make sure there aren't any others involved.

Lt. Green says Gerald's daughter has been cooperating with police and don't have any reason at this time to believe she's involved.

They're still trying to figure out possible motives.

Meanwhile, investigators are looking for information on where Gerald was between 3 pm on February 17th and 4 pm the next morning when he boarded a flight for a business trip.

"We believe that is the time when the murder occured, when her body was buried and the cleanup commenced."

A public candlelight vigil will be held at Sparks Presbyterian Church at 7pm tonight at the Lazy 5 Park located in Spanish Springs.
