Spring is one week from Thursday and it's one of the more popular times of the year to buy a home.
According to Michael Wood of RE/MAX, people are doing more than spring cleaning when it comes to their homes this time of year. "It's a lot nicer to go out and see homes after Daylight Saving. Now I can see them with a couple after they have both gotten off work, we can actually see the home. If the home is, let's say, a short sale, sometimes they don't have power, now they can actually see the inside of the home at night rather than weekends."
The weather has a lot to do with it as well. It's getting warmer out, so more people are inclined to get out and look and move all their belongings.
Another factor to consider, we are on the back end of the school year. "People are planning for the school year for next year. They start their looking, they make the move over the summer and then their kids start a brand new school year."
So take heed those of you homeowners considering selling.
Wood said this is a great time to take advantage of the market. He said if you know you want to sell, you shouldn't wait. Wood said home prices probably won't go up much the next few months anyway.
