Horizon Renamed 'Park Tahoe Casino Resort;' Close for Renovations

Posted: Updated:

The new owners of Horizon Casino Resort in South Lake Tahoe say they're renaming the property the Park Tahoe Casino Resort. It will close for April 1 for renovations.

"Our family has a long history in Lake Tahoe and we are so excited to be a part of the continued success of the Lake Tahoe market," Jon Park said. "The renovations we have planned for the Project will be a major part of the continued vision of the South Shore Area Plan."

The $40 million Project is scheduled to open prior to the end of the year.

Park Family owned Neva One, LLC, recently acquired the property for an undisclosed amount and has asked Warner Gaming the manage it.

The Horizon Casino Resort originally opened in 1965 as Del Webb's Sahara Tahoe.

"We have been so encouraged by the local support and anticipation of this project and we are looking forward to continued and active involvement in our community," David Park said.

Current employees have met with Nevada JobConnect regarding resources, training and other employment opportunities in the region. About 130 employees are taking advantage of a"VIP application process," which guarantees them a one-on-one interview with the Park Tahoe Casino Resort Project executive team.

The Park family announced a long-term management agreement with Warner Hospitality earlier this month.

Warner Gaming and its affiliated companies manage nine gaming and non-gaming properties throughout the United States, both in operations and under development. The Horizon Casino Resort marks the company's entry into the northern Nevada market.
