Local Culinary Students Serve Up St. Patrick's Day Food

Posted: Updated:

St. Patrick's Day is still four days away but already a local school is getting into the spirit of celebrating all things Irish.

The Culinary School at the Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology on Edison Way served up a traditional Irish menu of baked red potatoes, corned beef, Shepherd's pie, leek potato soup and a green bean salad and strawberry apple crumble for dessert.

The entire menu was designed and prepared by students.

"This is what the students love. You want to sit down and read some more 'do you want to take another test, do you want to get your hands dirty and actually do it and learn from experience and we've gotten a lot of experience this year," says chef Lee Wilhelm.

A week from today, academy's restaurant will be serving up the same meal, which costs about $15-$20. To make a reservation you can call 327-3932.
