A Reno boy - and author -with type one diabetes is getting closer to buying a dog that's trained to sniff out problems before they become problems.
Last May, we introduced you to Gage Bunsness. He wrote a book called "Gage's New Friend" -about a boy with diabetes and his journey to get an alert dog.
Gage has been selling copies so his story will come true.
A diabetic alert dog can detect a diabetic's blood sugar highs and lows which can turn dangerous quickly.
An alert dog costs around $25,000. So far, Gage has raised about $7,000.
Gage will be at the Port of Subs location at 720 South Meadows Parkway in Reno on Tuesday, March 18th. He'll sign copies of his book from 5pm until 8pm.
Port of Subs will donate a portion of their sales to Gage as well.
