Gas Prices Rising in Nevada

Posted: Updated:

As the weather gets warmer, we're starting to see the gas prices gradually increase, and many locals aren't looking forward to it.

"We work hard for our money and 3 cents does, it's a lot, it definitely adds up, most definitely 100%," says Chris Zink.

John Scheuermann of Reno says, "filler up for about $80 everytime and drive for my two weeks."

Experts say refineries are producing the summer-blend gasoline, which is more expensive to make and burns cleaner into the air.

AAA says the average price of regular-unleaded gas in Reno is $3.74 which is a four cent increase from last week. Compare that to the statewide average at $3.49 which is up three cents.

I asked people if this would limit them from using their vehicle in the coming months, it was a bit of a mixed reaction.

"I get a lot of good gas mileage out of my car. I don't drive all that much, only 10,000 miles a year. So, it's not like a whole lot," says Ellen Burroughs of Reno.

Shane Fuoco of Reno adds, "it's almost making it so difficult to the point where either I need to sell this and get something a little more economical or take the bus."

According to gasbuddyc.om, the cheapest gas in Reno-Sparks is currently at the Longley Market, near South Rock Boulevard at $3.61.

And the cheapest in Carson City is $3.41 at the 7-Eleven at 3701 North Carson Street, near College Parkway.
