Reno Councilwoman Hillary Schieve is the latest candidate to file for this year's mayoral race. She joins an already crowded filed of nearly 12 candidates.

Schieve filed for mayor Monday morning. She won the council's at-large seat in 2012 and owns two small businesses in Reno: Plato's Closet and Clothes Mentor.

"I am running for mayor because I want to open the doors to City Hall and change the culture so everyone has a voice," said Schieve, who is a newcomer to the council. "I eagerly await sharing my vision with voters."

Meanwhile, Reno businessman Ian Pasalich announced his intention Monday to run for mayor. The New Zealander moved to Reno in 1994 and owns NexGenStore - an online store that sells products from around the world.

Lasy week Washoe County Commissioner Kitty Jung said she's considering a run as well but intends to wait until she sees who else is in the hunt.

Candidate filing runs until 5 pm on Friday.
