A judge sentenced a 23-year-old man Thursday to four to ten years in prison for robbing a woman at Rail City Casino in Sparks in May 2013.

Jevyn William Berney also received an additional consecutive term of three to seven-and-half-years for the use of a gun during the robbery.

Berney will serve a minimum of seven years in prison before he is eligible for release on parole.

On May 30, 2013, prosecutors say Berney pointed a gun and demanded money from a woman as she got in her car. She gave him her wallet, and the masked gunman then ran away. She followed the suspect when she saw him get rid of his mask. However, no suspect was arrested that day.

Prosecutors say they were able to obtain Berney's DNA from the discarded items. The victim also identified Berney as the man who robbed her, specifically by his neck tattoo: "Bout Cash."

At sentencing, authorities say Berney committed the robbery only seven months after being released from prison for burglary.
