Annual Fundraiser for Care Chest Held Thursday

Posted: Updated:

Local business and community leaders were kidnapped for a good cause on Thursday.

The 23rd annual kidnap raises money for the Care Chest of Sierra Nevada's medical resource program, which provides medical equipment for the uninsured an underinsured.

Today community volunteers and business leaders were taken to a secret location where they made phone calls to raise money towards their "ransoms."

Organizers say the money really makes a difference in our community. "All these donations are greatly appreciated they make a huge difference in our community basically we're keeping people out of the hospital and the idea is to improve the general health of our community," says Care Chest Board President John Owens.

They hope to raise at least $75,000 from today's fundraiser.
