Horizon Casino Acquires New Owners; Close for Renovations April 1

Posted: Updated:

The new owners of Horizon Casino Resort in South Lake Tahoe say the property will close for renovations starting April 1.

Park Family owned Neva One, LLC, recently acquired the property for an undisclosed amount and has asked Warner Gaming the manage it. "We are very pleased that our family's acquisition plans for the Horizon are proceeding on schedule," says manager Jon Park.

David Park adds, "Our family has been active in the Lake Tahoe region for more than 100 years, and we care deeply about the local community. We have some exciting plans for a substantial renovation of the property. Over the next few months, we will be working on the transition of the Horizon as well as formulating the final redevelopment plans and timelines. We will make additional announcements about the future of this property very soon."

The Horizon Casino Resort originally opened in 1965 as Del Webb's Sahara Tahoe. The appointment of Warner Gaming as the new manager will require approval by Nevada gaming officials.

Current employees will be able to meet with Nevada JobConnect regarding resources, training and other employment opportunities.

"I could not be more excited to be joining forces with the Park family, and helping in to usher in the next chapter of this property's history," says Bill Warner.

Warner Gaming and its affiliated companies manage nine gaming and non-gaming properties throughout the United States, both in operations and under development. The Horizon Casino Resort marks the company's entry into the northern Nevada market.
