Nevada Highway Patrol troopers say a Washington man died after rolling his truck near Interstate 80 east of Fernley Monday night.

Troopers say on Monday night their communications center began receiving calls about a truck speeding on Interstate 80 between Sparks and Fernley.

A trooper in the Fernley area tried to intercept the gold 1999 Ford F-150 when the driver crashed into a median near mile marker 50, approximately two miles east of the city. He say the driver was clocked on radar traveling 90 miles per hour.

Troopers say evidence at the scene revealed the driver, 63-year-old Michael A. Lomax of Tacoma, Washington, tried to over-correct the truck, and rolled it several times. Lomax was thrown from the vehicle. He was taken by ambulance to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno where he later died.

Troopers say speeding, not wearing a seat belt and alcohol were involved in the accident.

Trooper Kris Satterwhite of the Nevada Highway Patrol's Major's Accident Investigation Team is investigating this crash. Witnesses, or anyone with additional information, can reach him at (775) 689-4682 or ksatterwhite@dps.state.nv.us regarding case number NHP-140300235.
