From the Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority:

The Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority announced today the 111th United States Bowling Congress Open Championships is now underway at the National Bowling Stadium in downtown Reno.
Marking a record 12th visit to Reno Tahoe, the 2014 tournament will draw more than 9,000 teams, representing nearly 50,000 bowlers from all 50 states and many foreign countries. Additionally, more than 22,000 guests will visit Reno Tahoe throughout the tournament, which runs through July 13th. The USBC Open Championships were first held at the National Bowling Stadium in 1995, and the economic impact of the anticipated 67,500 visitors to the destination in 2014 is projected to be $133 million.
"Reno Tahoe USA is proud to host the USBC Open Championships once again, and we're already looking forward to its return in 2016," said RSCVA President and CEO Christopher Baum. "The National Bowling Stadium made USBC history last year hosting both the Open Championships and the Women's Championships in the same year, and it is a thrill and an honor to continue our tradition of excellence as we welcome back both tournaments in 2014."
The USBC Women's Championships begin this April on specially constructed lanes at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. The Women's Championships are expected to draw more than 25,000 visitors, bowlers and guests during the three-month tournament.
