The Culinary School at the Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology has become the first culinary school in Nevada to be accredited by the American Culinary Federation.
You may remember the federation visited the school back in October to review it for accreditation.
The school was recognized back in December and Thursday it held a ceremony to thank those who helped it get the accredited, and unveil a plaque which commemorates it.
The designation means students who graduate from the school will have an easier time advancing in higher education. "These kids when they graduate with a certification go on to college, ready to learn even more advanced stuff," says chef instructor Fred Wright.
AACT is one of only 12 schools in the western U.S. to receive accreditation, which lasts five years.
