Nevada Sales Up 1.7% in December

Taxable sales in Nevada rose 1.7% in December over the same month in 2012.
 
The Associated Press says a report released Wednesday by the Department of Taxation shows Nevada merchants sold $4.4 billion in goods, with notable gains in sales of vehicles and parts, building and garden supplies and professional and technical services.
 
Northern Nevada's Washoe County posted a big increase of 13.1% in taxable sales, while Clark County in southern Nevada saw gains of 2.5%.
 
Seven of Nevada's 17 counties saw an increase in sales activity in December compared with the same month a year earlier.
 
Based on those sales, the state collected $344.7 million in taxes, an increase of 2.4%. (AP)
