From the Regional Transportation Commission:

The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County will host a community meeting to present landscape and aesthetics concepts developed for the Pyramid McCarran Intersection Improvement Project. The event will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27th at the Sparks Masonic Building located at 2425 Pyramid Way in Sparks. The meeting will be open to the public from 5 pm to 7 pm with a presentation scheduled at 5:30 pm. A Spanish language translator will be available at the meeting.

The project which has been under development for the past eight years received federal approval in December 2013 to proceed with final design and construction. The landscape concepts have been developed with community and stakeholder input during the past few years. Residents within the project limits are invited to attend to view the concepts for their neighborhood and participate in a Community Preference Survey to select the final landscape design which will serve as a gateway for the City of Sparks. The concepts can be viewed at www.pyramidmccarran.com.

The Pyramid/McCarran Intersection Improvement Project will improve safety and relieve congestion at Sparks' busiest intersection; enhancing the neighborhood with improved, safer traffic operations and landscaping. The investment for the federally funded project is $71 million and includes local fuel tax dollars.
