Local Business Makes the Move to Midtown Reno

Posted: Updated:

Business is strong at Paper Moon these days. That gift and stationery story has been through economic ups and downs like most businesses over the past few years. At one time they had two locations.

"The recession ate our other store," says owner Laura Romero. "Seriously, we had a store in the Summit for like a year and a half and then we had to close it. But now, we see things turning around and we knew it was time to make a move."

They've moved into the Heritage Bank Annex on South Virginia Street. They've remodeled that old office building into retail space including spacious display windows.

"We had to gut the whole thing and take down walls," says Philip Romero. "And it was a lot of hard work, but we really want to show people we are fun - these windows will do that."

"Besides, they will keep advertising we're here...even when we're not here," adds Laura.

They are expanding their inventory in all categories from clothing to stationery services and even adding in more kids' clothing and gifts. And they'll be celebrating their new location this Friday, February 28 with an open house featuring other Midtown merchants. It runs from 3pm-7pm.

"This is the most exciting area of Reno. It's like the big city district for this town. And we hope that if other people see us, an established business, moving here, they will too."
