U.S. Forest Service Plans for More Prescribed Burns

Posted: Updated:

The U.S. Forest Service says that they may continue a series of prescribed burns in the Tahoe Basin around Lake Tahoe starting on Monday, February 24th.

Areas that may see prescribed fire operations include Spooner Summit, woods off of Bunker Drive near Tahoe City, and the Luther Pass Campground near South Lake Tahoe.

The Forest Service warns that smoke from the prescribed burns could last for several days after the initial burn, but say that they do have plans in place to minimize the smoke's impact.

Forest Service staff members will be posting road signs near areas affected by the prescribed fire, but residents can also sign up to receive emails about the burns by sending an email to pa_ltbmu@fs.fed.us
