4 people are dead and two more injured after a shooting in Alturas, California.

The shooting happened Thursday afternoon at the Cedarville Rancheria Tribal Office in Alturas which is about 200 miles north of Reno.

KRCR-TV reports 44-year-old Sherrie Rhoades walked into the tribal office around 3:30 Thursday afternoon and opened fire.

They say once Rhoades ran out of ammunition she grabbed a butcher knife and began to stab one of the victims several times.

When police arrived Rhoades was out front of the building running with knife. She was subdued and taken into custody.

KRCR reports Rhoades was a former tribal leader, who was at a hearing facing eviction of her and her son from the Rancheria.

We will continue to update this story as we learn more.
