Toys R Us McCarran Distribution Center to Close

Posted: Updated:

Toys R Us says it will stop outbound shipments from its McCarran distribution center next month – and leave the area on June 1.

"Based on the success of our ‘Ship from Store' initiative, enabling us to more efficiently leverage inventory and fulfill e-commerce orders in more locations, we have decided to close the McCarran online fulfillment center and absorb its product at nearby stores and existing distribution centers," says Toys R Us spokeswoman Linda DeNotaris.

The McCarran center fulfilled Toysrus.com and Babiesrus.com orders.

The company is now trying to place as many full- and part-time employees as possible from the distribution center to other area company locations.

The McCarran distribution center opened in July 2011 in the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center in Storey County.
