Authorities searched through the early morning hours for a person, police say ran from them before jumping into the Truckee River in west Reno.

They are looking for a white man in his 30's or 40's. He was last seen wearing a black puffy jacket and brown pants.

According to RPD, they responded to an alarm at Walden's Coffeehouse on the corner of McCarran Boulevard and Mayberry Drive in west Reno around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.

They say a short time later, the man rode by on a bicycle and police asked them to stop for questioning. He took off and pedaled north towards the river.

They say he ditched the bike on the shore and jumped into the river.

The Reno Fire Department was called in to search the waters, meanwhile the Washoe County Sheriff's Office searched from the air with their RAVEN helicopter.

Police say this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no immediate danger to the public.

They also say, they are not certain there is a connection to the man and the alarm call at Walden's Coffeehouse.

If you know anything that could help, please call the Reno Police Department. You can also call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or text your tip to 847-411.
