Pyramid Highway Back Open After Structure Fire

Posted: Updated:

The Sparks Fire Department reports that a structure fire damaged two buildings and one vehicle and closed a portion of the Pyramid Highway, all in the early morning on Saturday, February 8th.

According to SFD, at around 4 a.m. firefighters were called to 337 Pyramid Highway, after a motorist driving through the area noticed the structure was on fire.

Firefighters say the building was badly burned on its north side, with fire damage extending up into the attic. Radiated heat also affected a nearby empty building to the north and a car parked behind the building.

Investigators say the house was built in 1914 as a home, but had been renovated into a realty office. The office was closed at the time of the fire, and firefighters say no one was inside, and no injuries have been reported.

The north and southbound lanes of Pyramid Highway from C street to Prater were closed from 4:16 to 9:10 as crews doused the fire and cleaned the area.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and officials say they have not estimated the cost of the damage at this time.
