The Salvation Army and the Safari Club International Foundation (SCIF) are inviting the homeless and anyone else who needs a hot meal to attend this year's Feed the Hungry Feast. Approximately 1,800 guests are expected at the event. 1,500 meals were served last year.
The Feed the Hungry Feast will be held from 5 PM – 7 PM, Tuesday, February 4 at the downtown Reno Events Center.
Other event sponsors include the Northern Nevada Chapter of Safari Club, Blue Ribbon Meat Company, the Reno Sparks Convention and Visitor's Authority, the Eldorado Hotel, Harrah's Reno, Levy Restaurants, Model Dairy, US Foods and the Washoe County Sheriff's Office. Approximately 180 volunteers will be assisting with the event, including members from The Salvation Army Advisory Board, The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, the Northern Nevada Chapter of the Safari Club, Harrah's Reno, the High Sierra Chefs Association, The Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology (AACT), Wells Fargo, US Bank and DirecTV.
Project Homeless Connect will take place at the Events Center in the morning. Participants will be invited to the dinner that evening, along with people from the shelters, the various social service and homeless agencies, senior centers, welfare & unemployment offices, etc.
