Man Arrested for Attempting to Lure 3 Minors

Posted: Updated:

Sparks Police report that one man has been placed under arrest after attempting to lure 3 minors on Sunday, February 2nd.

SPD reports that officers were called to the intersection of 15th and Prater at around 4:25 p.m. on reports of child luring. The initial call indicated that the car in question was a black 1997 Honda Civic with tinted windows.

Officers quickly found the car, which was parked on the north side of Deer Park on F Street. The driver and suspect has been identified as 18-year-old Carlos Campa.

Three female minors, aged 12, 12, and 14, reported that Campa asked them to come into his car. They declined and fled into a nearby 7-11. When they left the store, Campa pulled up in his car a second time, asked them to come with him, and at one point stepped outside of the vehicle in an attempt to convince or force them.

The three girls fled and called the police, telling officers that they were afraid of Campa. Campa was arrested on scene and has been booked in the Washoe County Jail.
