RTC Seeks Input on Transit Services for Seniors, People With Disabilities

Posted: Updated:

From the Regional Transportation Commission:

The Regional Transportation Commission will host an Open House on Tuesday, Feb. 4th at the Washoe County Senior Center located at 1155 E. 9th Street in Reno. The purpose of the open house is to present the recommendations that have been developed for the RTC 5-Year Paratransit Plan to improve RTC ACCESS services in the Truckee Meadows. Additionally, attendees are encouraged to provide comments on the recommendations which will be presented to the RTC Board of Commissioners at their March 21st meeting.

RTC ACCESS is the paratransit service that provides door-to-door, prescheduled transportation for people who meet the eligibility criteria of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). RTC ACCESS passengers have disabilities which prevent them from riding the RTC RIDE fixed-route transit service independently, some or all of the time. Given the limited financial resources available today the RTC cannot meet the growing demand for transportation services for these individuals. The RTC is seeking the public's help to develop solutions to meet the transportation needs of seniors and people with disabilities in our community that enhance their independence and quality of life.
