Nevada Casino Winnings Up 10% in December

Posted: Updated:

Nevada casinos have pulled in nearly 10% more gambling revenue in December compared with the same time last year.

The state Gaming Control Board reports Friday that December casino winnings topped $1 billion. That's up from $943 million in December 2012.

Las Vegas Strip winnings of $664 million were up almost 13% year-over-year. Downtown revenues of $42 million were also up 13%.

Reno casino winnings of $40 million were down about 1% from last December.

South Lake Tahoe casino revenues took a 25% dip, dropping to $16 million this December.

The state collected almost $36 million in fees based on the December winnings. That figure is a drop of almost 10% from the same time last year.
